My name is Asako and I am a registered dietitian nutritionist. I offer nutrition counseling for various medical conditions but am seeing more clients who are trying to get pregnant with and without fertility treatments. My nutrition career started more than 20 years ago. When I was attending a college in Japan, I taught nutrition classes for women with hormone imbalance, PMS, fibroids and other women’s health issues. I was also a founder of a natural cooking studio for kids with food allergies and was a researcher at National Institute of Health and Nutrition in Tokyo, Japan. After working in several jobs involving nutrition, I realized my passion and moved to the United States to study nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University.
During my school years, I started to feel that my body was falling apart from constantly studying. I was diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism and realized that I didn't eat healthy food because I was busy with school work. I changed my diet and exercise routines and recovered completely. From my personal and work experiences, I found methods that improved the conditions of clients with different medical issues including thyroid issues, diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes mellitus, weight issues, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and etc. I have been focusing on nutrition and pregnancy and fertility/reproduction since I am seeing the clients more often. I believe changing your diet improves pregnant life and fertility. My consultation will focus on medical nutrition therapy and Japanese diet tips to change your health.
